(Ampex Data Systems Corporation, Hayward, CA) A manufacturer of storage and image processing products. Founded in 1944 by Alexander M. Poniatoff, Ampex pioneered the video recording industry, introducing the first videotape recorder in 1956 and providing innovative products for the TV broadcasting industry ever since.
