A CDE Definition
A two-to-one manual switch box with two inputs (A and B) and one output, or one input and two outputs. For example, it can be used to connect two devices to one computer or one device to two computers. See data switch.
A switch box that routes an input signal to an output line; for example, to connect two computers to one printer. Manual data switches have dials or buttons. Automatic switches test for signals on the input lines and provide first-come, first-served switching. See HDMI switch and A/B box.
