(Digital Asset Management) Keeping track of the digital assets of an organization. Companies have come to own a huge amount of digitally created material that needs to be stored, cataloged and easily retrieved. See DAMS.
(Digital Asset Management System) Software that is used to acquire, index and keep track of the digital assets of an enterprise. Such a system includes data acquisition, media conversion, access rights, backup, usage tracking and rights management. A DAMS may provide the facilities to integrate with third party content creation systems, digital editors and commercial printers. See DAM.
