A CDE Definition
(1) See Ethernet DIA.
(2) (Document Interchange Architecture) An IBM SNA format used to exchange documents from dissimilar machines within an LU 6.2 session. It acted as an envelope to hold the document and did not set any standards for the content of the document, such as layout settings or graphics standards.
(Ethernet Dedicated Internet Access) A 1 or 10 Gbps Ethernet connection direct to the Internet from a company's internal network. Instead of coupling an Ethernet LAN to T1, T3, frame relay, ATM or MPLS networks for external access, Ethernet DIA reduces complexity by providing the same technology from the local network all the way to an Internet backbone. See Ethernet, T1, T3, frame relay, ATM and MPLS.
