A CDE Definition
(Electronic Serial Number) A 32-bit number that uniquely identifies a CDMA mobile device. The ESN was replaced with the mobile equipment ID (see MEID).
(Mobile Equipment ID) A 56-bit number that uniquely identifies a CDMA cellphone. In the 2005 time frame, the MEID began to replace the 32-bit ESN (electronic serial number). The equivalent number in a GSM or UMTS cellphone is the international mobile equipment identity (see IMEI).
