A Web-based version control repository that offers all the features of the Git distributed version control system. Introduced in 2008, GitHub is the largest hosting service for source code in the world. GitHub provides Web browser and mobile interfaces to the repository and also includes bug tracking, feature requests and wikis for every project. See Git.

Noted for its branching flexibility, which allows separate branches to be created for testing new ideas, Git is a distributed system that keeps a repository with complete version history in every directory.
