A CDE Definition
Google app indexing
Synchronizing an installed Android app with the Google search results on the Android device. For example, searching Google for a beef stew recipe on a smartphone or tablet would display, along with other relevant links in the results list, a "deep" link to the beef stew recipe in the installed recipe app. The Android app must be coded properly to enable this linking. See deep link.
deep link
A hyperlink to a page on a website that is not the beginning of the home page. A deep link could point to any page on the site or to any article or content anywhere on the page, including farther down the home page. Search engines index all the pages they find on the Web and offer billions of deep links on their results pages every day.
Although some website owners complain that deep links bypass the highest-paying ads on their home page, causing financial harm, deep links are legal as long as they point to content users can find on their own by browsing the Web. See Google app indexing and deep Web.
