A CDE Definition
(1) (Java Cryptography Architecture) The security functions for the Java platform. It includes the Java Security API as well as the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE), which adds more programming interfaces for encryption and key exchange. It also provides a mechanism for adding third-party security packages such as algorithms and digital signatures into Java applications.
(2) (Java Connector Architecture) See Java Connector.
A programming interface (API) that provides an interface between a Java program and a legacy application such as CICS and R/3. Java Connectors, which are part of the Java EE platform, make legacy applications look like an Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) to the Java program. See Java EE.
