A CDE Definition
(Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) A classification of laboratory tests and clinical results in the medical field. Developed in 1994 by the Regenstrief Institute, Inc. (www.loinc.org), which is affiliated with Indiana University, LOINC has been adopted as an alternate reporting code by large commercial testing laboratories and HMOs and government organizations.
The Regenstrief LOINC Mapping Assistant (RELMA) is a Windows program used to search the LOINC database as well as convert users' local terms and lab tests to the LOINC codes. See SNOMED CT, ICD and healthcare IT.
