(Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network, telecommunications network or TV broadcasting network. A single point of network control, which could be as small as a single software application, to a single workstation with various network monitoring tools all the way to a "war room" that controls a network in a large enterprise, ISP or communications carrier.
