A CDE Definition
A smartphone camera technology from Nokia that takes extremely high-resolution images along with high-end audio recording. Released in the Symbian-based PureView 808 model in Europe in 2012, PureView captures 38 megapixels (MPs) at a 7152x5368 resolution, which can be cropped and still yield a high-quality picture. To keep file sizes smaller, the camera also takes 5 MP pictures by reducing seven of the sensor pixels into one. The PureView technology is expected to migrate to Windows Phone models. See Symbian, Windows Phone and Lumia.
