(Physics Processing Unit) Parallel processing hardware designed to perform physics computations. Although prototypes were developed, Ageia was the only company to produce a commercial product (it was acquired by NVIDIA in 2002). Today, the graphics processing unit (GPU) is commonly used for physics processing. See PhysX, GPU and GPGPU.
