SBR

(1) (Surround Back Right) The designation for a right rear speaker in a surround sound system. SBL is the left rear speaker. See 5.1 channel.

(2) (Store the B Register) A machine language instruction in the IBM 1401 and other computers. The SBR was executed at the beginning of a routine to hold the address of the calling instruction.



5.1 channel

A surround sound system that uses five audio channels plus a subwoofer channel (the "1" in 5.1). Widely used in home theater systems, DVDs are often recorded in 5.1 audio encoding technologies (see Dolby Digital and DTS). For more speaker configurations, see surround sound.
