United Online

(United Online, Inc., Woodland Hills, CA, www.unitedonline.net) A merger of the Juno and NetZero online services in 2001. Later that year, it acquired the BlueLight.com service from Kmart. In 2004, it added to its portfolio of consumer Internet services by acquiring Classmates Online, Inc., which operates Classmates.com. See Juno.



Juno

(Juno Online Services, Inc., www.juno.com) An ISP that provides Internet access and Web-based email with free or paid service plans. Juno started out in 1995 as a non-Web service. Mail was accessed only via a dial-up connection to the Juno computer. Later, Juno added Internet email and Web access. In 2001, it merged with NetZero to become United Online (www.unitedonline.net).
