Definition: badware

Software, such as spyware and adware, that has been deceptively installed in the user's computer. Although it may also be called "malware," badware is not designed to deliberately destroy data or compromise a system as is a virus or Trojan. However, badware can slow down a computer while monitoring and reporting a user's habits to a third-party website. See spyware, adware and wares.
