A CDE Definition
(1) Filtering selected data from many different digital broadcasts. Pattern matching can be used on most any data; however, depending on the situation, it may require enormous computational power to realize anything meaningful. If all digital-based broadcasting systems were to identify their content with meta-data, simple systems could be employed to pull out required information.
(2) A file distribution system over the Internet that uses a syndication feed and BitTorrent. The feed is used to announce a new episode of a TV or video program or a new version of software, and the BitTorrent link in the feed causes the download. See syndication feed and BitTorrent.
