device agnostic

Not tied to a particular device. Same as "machine independent." The term generally refers to software that runs on multiple platforms such as a Java application. It also refers to websites that are as readable in mobile devices as they are on desktop computers. See machine dependent.

machine dependent

Applications that run in only one series of computers such as Intel x86 or IBM's System z mainframe. Also called "hardware dependent" and "platform dependent.

Not Dependent
In contrast, "machine," "hardware" or "platform independent" means that the application can run in a variety of different families of computers. See platform dependent and device dependent.
