A CDE Definition
A far distance. It typically refers to the propagation of electromagnetic waves over long distances. Depending on the application, farfield may be contrasted with "nearfield" (short range) or with "midfield" (in between). See nearfield.
The closest distance from a source to its destination. The term generally refers to wireless communications as well as studio monitors (speakers) designed for close listening. Contrast with "farfield," the farthest distance and "midfield;" in between. See NFC and electroceutical.
