fat server

A server in a client/server environment that performs most or all of the application processing with little or none performed in the client. The counterpart to a fat server is a thin client. Contrast with fat client. See two-tier client/server.



two-tier client/server

A two-way interaction in a client/server environment, in which the user interface is stored in the client and the data are stored in the server. The application logic can be in either the client or the server. See client/server.
