fixed mobile convergence

An umbrella term for the seamless switching between fixed and mobile devices. Fixed mobile convergence (FMC) may refer to handsets that switch between cellular and Wi-Fi or to starting a movie on the big-screen TV and continue it on a smartphone or tablet and vice versa. See dual-mode handset.

dual-mode handset

A cellphone that supports two types of services such as analog and digital, two types of digital or cellular and non-cellular service. See fixed mobile convergence, GAN and dual-band handset.
