fixed-line Internet

Internet access that is achieved by plugging into a cable, DSL or FiOS jack on the wall. Contrast with a 3G/4G mobile service. See mobile broadband.

mobile broadband

Data transmission delivered by the cellular carriers to mobile devices (cellphones, smartphones, tablets, laptops). Speeds are typically less than high-speed fixed broadband subscriptions such as cable and FiOS. However, 4G LTE cellular service increasingly competes with DSL, low-speed cable and satellite offerings. See mobile broadband router, cellular data, cellular generations and cellular modem.
