flash appliance
A self-contained flash storage system comprising solid state flash drives (SSDs). A flash appliance is designed for SSDs and is more space efficient in a datacenter than a storage array that can also accommodate hard disks. Flash appliances may also feature RAID striping, replication and deduplication. The terms flash appliance and "flash array" are used synonymously. See flash array, RAID and deduplication.
