graphics switching

In a laptop computer that has both integrated graphics built into the chipset and discrete graphics circuitry (GPU), graphics switching alternates between the two to save battery life. A GPU takes more power than the chipset graphics. The switching may be automatic or manually controlled by the user. See integrated graphics and GPU.
