iPad mini 4
See iPad mini.
Apple's small iPad. Introduced in October 2012 with a 7.9" screen, the mini uses Apple's second-generation dock connector (see Lightning connector).
mini 2, 3 and 4
Officially the "iPad mini with Retina Display," the second-generation model debuted in October 2013 with Apple's higher-resolution screen and the faster A7 processor and M7 coprocessor. It received a large speed boost as it jumped from the A5 to the A7 chip, bypassing the A6. At its debut, the model included more LTE data bands than any other device, enabling cellular models to be used throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
The mini 3 had a few changes in 2014. It used the same processing chips but added Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a gold case color option. In 2015, the thinner, lighter iPad mini 4 features an improved camera and uses the faster A8 CPU chip. Debuting with iOS 9, the mini 4 takes advantage of the split screen mode that displays two apps side-by-side. See iPad, Retina Display and Apple coprocessor.
