network meltdown

A condition in which the network barely functions due to excessive traffic. It can be caused by a legitimate overload of valid traffic or by malicious or erroneous conditions. See broadcast storm.



broadcast storm

Excessive transmission of broadcast traffic in a network. Broadcast storms can be lessened by properly designing and balancing the number of nodes on each network segment. See mail storm, broadcast traffic and broadcast.
