Mobile users who need access to their email, company data and the Internet no matter where they are at any given moment. For decades, computers, phones and faxes fostered the telecommuter and virtual company. In the 1990s, the Internet created a global transport for email and data exchange, but mostly for people at fixed locations. After the turn of the century, wireless carriers and devices extended the office to employees on-the-go ("nomadic workers"). See personal communicator and smartphone.
