qWave

(Quality Windows Audio Video Experience) A programming interface (API) from Microsoft that gives priority to audio and video streams transmitting over a wireless network. Using probes to monitor the network and the RSVP protocol to reserve bandwidth, applications must employ qWave in order to achieve the intended quality of service (QoS). See RSVP.

RSVP

(ReSerVation Protocol) A communications protocol that signals a router to reserve bandwidth for real-time transmission. RSVP is designed to clear a path for audio and video traffic, eliminating annoying skips and hesitations. It has been sanctioned by the IETF, because audio and video traffic is constantly increasing on the Internet. See RTP and COPS.
