response time

The time it takes for a remote server to fulfill a user's query and return the answer such as retrieving a customer record, Web page or search result. See real-time system.

real-time system

A computer system that responds to input signals fast enough to keep an operation moving at its required speed. Examples are video game computers and videoconferencing systems as well as computers used to control airplanes, space shuttles and self-driving cars. See real-time information system and real time.
