Capable of being forwarded to another network. See routable protocol.
A communications protocol that contains a network address as well as a device address. It allows packets to be forwarded from one network to another. Examples of routable protocols are TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk, SNA, XNS and DECnet. Contrast with non-routable protocol. See routing protocol.
