Definition: telehealth

An umbrella term for remote diagnostic and remedial procedures in the medical field as well as accident prevention systems. Telehealth also encompasses video meetings in lieu of physical doctor visits. Such meetings can be among medical professionals discussing a case, as well as an appointment between doctor and patient.

Telehealth in 2020
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of people visited their doctors online for the first time. Although mandatory telehealth visits began to decline in 2022, more doctor-patient visits are performed online today than before the pandemic.
