A CDE Definition
A type of bridge that interconnects two different types of LAN protocols, such as Ethernet and Token Ring. Translating bridges are generally very complicated devices. However, source routing transparent (SRT) bridging integrates both bridging methods of Ethernet and Token Ring to solve the problem. See SRT.
(1) (Source Routing Transparent) An IEEE-standard that provides bridging between Ethernet and Token Ring networks. Ethernet LANs use transparent bridging, and Token Ring LANs use source route bridging (SRB). The SRT method sends Ethernet packets via transparent bridging and Token Ring packets via SRB.
(2) (Speech Recognition Technology) See voice recognition.
