A CDE Definition
An early display terminal that drew lines (vectors) on the screen rather than pixels. Also called "stroke writers," vector displays were used in the early days of computer-aided design (CAD) but soon gave way entirely to raster displays. See raster display.
A TV or computer monitor that uses the raster scan method for creating the image on screen. Almost all displays use the raster method. See raster scan. Contrast with vector display.
