A CDE Definition
Development software that is used to create dialog boxes, Web pages and other user interface components by dragging and dropping graphic elements, selecting from menus or by using drawing tools. Although the editor may allow code such as HTML to be interjected when necessary, it is not required for rudimentary designs. See GUI builder.
Software that lets a programmer or user develop a graphical user interface by dragging and dropping icons from a toolbar onto the interface window and editing them with graphics tools. Behind the scenes, the GUI builder generates the necessary programming code to implement the interface. Either a stand-alone program or part of an application development system, GUI builders are a primary component in modern programming environments. See GUI and application development system.
